Generations
Brandon and Leo (2008) Baldwin County, Alabama --- This was taken at an event for my grandmother who recently passed away. My uncle Leo and his son Brandon have an incredible mastery of stringed instruments and its always a joy to hear them play.
I'm a 53-year-old spouse, father, artist and writer.
I've been a lot of things: A sailor in Desert Storm and the War on Drugs; a Marine Combat Correspondent through other miscellaneous altercations in the late 90s and early OOs; a deputy sheriff, and a teacher.
I am currently retired, and supporting my former midwife partner through nursing school, and my youngest child through grade school while serving as a guest teacher, writing a novel, and painting when I have commissions.
I was recently challenged by a friend and life model because I wasn't very happy with my body. They asked, "How can see the beauty in all other bodies except your own?" And challenged me to start taking self-portraits of myself.
Its been a journey.
These photos are the result, and I hope they might inspire other artists to find the beauty they hold in themselves.
