A new blog and website in one
It is probably rather obvious I am not very efficient at maintaining a blog. I wasn't very good at a website either, which has led me to the decision to close this blog and its predecessor and move every thing over to wordpress where I am establishing a new blog and central site for our art.
The web address will be www.loimestudios.org, which was just much easier than trying to reclaim my previous website from HostGator, and much, much cheaper.
Look for some new art to be available soon!

My First Kickstarter Campaign

I partnered with another world traveling young writer recently to illuminate a children's story and several months later we are ready to make our splash onto the scene. Its a great story with a nugget of wisdom and some artwork I am thoroughly loving to be creating.

Color theory for homeschoolers
Someone once said we ruin children by trying to teach them, so we kept the lecture to a minimum.
"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up."
"Art is not the application of a canon of beauty but what the instinct and the brain can conceive beyond any canon. When we love a woman we don't start measuring her limbs."
"“Each second we live is a new and unique moment of the universe, a moment that will never be again. And what do we teach our children? We teach them that two and two make four, and that Paris is the capital of France. When will we also teach them what they are? We should say to each of them: Do you know what you are? You are a marvel. You are unique. In all the years that have passed, there has never been another child like you. Your legs, your arms, your clever fingers, the way you move. You may become a Shakespeare, a Michelangelo, a Beethoven. You have the capacity for anything. Yes, you are a marvel. And when you grow up, can you then harm another who is, like you, a marvel? You must work, we must all work, to make the world worthy of its children.”
“While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about.”
“The child must know that he is a miracle, that since the beginning of the world there hasn't been, and until the end of the world there will not be, another child like him.”

MARDI GRAS MAMBO and ME AND WHISKEY illustrations completed
The MARDI GRAS MAMBO illustration titled "Brass and Indians" for a collaboration with German artist Hardy C L Lochfrass for Klaus Weiland's upcoming LIVE IM MIKADO album. It is filled with awesomeness and I feel honored to be working with Klaus and Hardy on this project.
A little detail from "Brass and Indians" just for Chela, of Medieval Moccasins.
The Voodoo Queen detail
The lyrics of the song are written through the bonnets of the Mardi Gras Indians and ...
... on the body of the gold painted Voodoo Queen.
ME AND WHISKEY illustration for Klaus Weiland's LIVE IM MIKADO album.
The drunkards face detail for ME AND WHISKEY.
The Dragon detail. The design is drawn from an old Irish drawing of some controversy according to its meaning, but a few changes and it seemed the perfect illustration for man's struggle with himself and the repercussions of his decisions.

Album art for Klaus Weiland's LIVE IM MIKADO
My portion of a collaborative effort with German artist Hardy C. L. Lochfrass for Klaus Weiland's upcoming LIVE IM MIKADO album. Hardy is a phenomenal graphic designer introduced by our common friend Klaus, who if you don't know is the most amazing guitarist in the world, or as Klaus says, he's "world famous" in Germany. I think this album is going to make that much more global.
